How to restore photos that have faded away before it's too late.
When is it too late to restore photos? It's nearly too late when you have boxes of photos or slides sitting in the loft - maturing. They may be affected by damp, mildew, or fungus, but if they are in the loft, you have built a barrier between you and them. It's so easy to put off climbing around in a dirty, dark loft, but that's where your memory prompts are. Go on, climb up there and bring a few boxes down. I bet you will spend many hours going through photos remembering people and places, fun times and sad times. You will also be asking questions like "who that person standing next to Great Aunt Beth with an arm on her shoulder?" If only you could see the image clearly through the badly faded photograph.
You've seen them, we've all got them; black and white photographs faded to the colour of the paper base on one edge of the photo, and on the other edge the image has disappeared under a silvery sheen.
Wedding photos taken in the 60's, 70's and 80's that have turned orange, even though they have been shut up in the album for 20 to 30 years.
Holiday slides that are now covered in small black specs - and where did the scratches come from?
A photo restore can in many instances bring back images that can hardly be seen on the print. Not always, but in many cases. You will be amazed at the detail that can be made visible.
Not only making images visible; when you order a restoration photo you can ask for editing and other actions to be carried out. For example:
- Remove untidy backgrounds - the telephone pole growing out of the brides head, or the young lad pulling a face
- Remove people from group shots
- Change colours of specific items
- Colour black and white photographs
- Blur backgrounds
- Convert 35mm slides to DVD
- Produce canvas prints
- Add or remove sepia toning
- Restore photos to make great gifts, from coasters to framed canvas prints. From mugs with your pictures on to huge posters
- How about an image from your restorations printed on a traditional deckchair?
- Old school photos - let us add a name and arrow pointing to the relevant people.
The list goes on. If you photo restore your most important images, they will last much longer than your originals, because of different printing methods, better inks and dyes, and much better printing paper that is used now.
Protect your family history and have those old photos restored now, and while you are sending us the faded photographs, why not ask for a DVD backup?
